Everton’s Wayne Rooney scores from inside is own half, roughly 59 yards away. Rooney said this might be the greatest goal he’s ever scored. Which is quite something to say given all the goals he’s scored playing for Manchester United. The goal also completed Rooney’s hattrick in the game. And Rooney’s half fied goal is amazing because it’s not a chip shot exactly. Instead, Rooney gets under the ball with a bit of power, sort of lasers the ball into the back of the net. The kind of shot where you don’t follow through but stop short under the ball to drive it. Rooney even gets a bit of bend and spin on the ball. Joe Hart had no chance. Everton is obviously very happy to have Rooney back in their club, where he started his professional career. What’s funny about the goal is that the referee almost blocks it! Thankfully the referee is smart enough and athletic enough to jump to the side and get out of the way.
