Cristiano Ronaldo Pops His Collar

If you’re one of the greatest soccer players to ever play the game then yes you can pop your collar. Perhaps in a homage to another former Manchester United star, Eric Cantona, Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo was wearing his collar up against the LA Galaxy in a recent friendly match. One Twitter, someone said Ronaldo should put his collar back to restore his form.

Cristiano proceeded to dribble through four or five LA Galaxy players and laser the ball into the upper corner. The new Real Madrid jersey has a collar, and if there’s anyone who can get away with wearing it up, it’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

Wearing the collar up, or popping your collar, is almost like those bright colored shoes that players wear, you can only wear them if you’ve got the ability and soccer skills to back it up. Ronaldo plays with so much confidence, like nobody can stop him, that the collar up is a warning sign for opposing teams, when it’s up, beware. Yes, if you’re as good as Cristiano you can wear the collar up, especially when he’s about to step up for a free kick near the goal.

Eric Cantona always wore his collar up when he played for Manchester United. Cantona was someone who also played with a confidence that verged on arrogance. He has so much belief in his own abilities and what he could do with the soccer ball. He scored some amazing goals when he was with United. Check out Cantona’s top ten goals.

Eric Cantona is a footballing icon who took the Premier League by storm. His antics on and off the soccer field always hit the headlines. By why did he insist on playing with his collar up? Turns out it was more superstition than anything else. He popped his collar for a game when it was cold and Manchester United won so he kept the collar up.

Makes sense. But yeah, I’m sure Cantona liked how he stood out and it almost intimidated opposing teams with the arrogant collar up look.
