Sergino Dest misses sitter at the Camp Nou versus Real Madrid in El Clasico. It was a sitter and it wasn’t a sitter. Yes, it was just Dest and the keeper Courtois but the ball took a bit of a deflection and he had to get his body around it better to strike it cleanly. In the end Dest sent it well over the goal and didn’t make the keeper have to make a save. Maybe Dest had too much time to try to line up the shot…
Just imagine if Dest had pulled off a rabona instead and scored! Watch fires high and over the goal from ten yards away.

Grant Wahl had this to say about the Dest sitter miss:
“You hate to put in those terms, but it’s true. The 20-year-old American, playing higher up as a winger, got a wide-open chance in front of the goal with the score at 0-0 in the 25th minute and somehow right-footed it over the bar. For USMNT fans, it was a PTSD situation: An American in a huge game has a sitter in front of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois that he skies over the bar. (Flashbacks to Chris Wondolowski vs. Belgium in World Cup 2014.)”
